My volunteering experience with Oyster…Libearty, Romania
My volunteering experience with Oyster was at the Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Romania. All the arrangements for the trip went smoothly and the information available via the Oyster portal was invaluable. Kate Tipler provided great support leading up to the trip and once in Romania the Oyster Rep Razvan was extremely helpful regarding all aspects of the volunterring work plus the day to day aspects of staying in Romania. The accommodation was very comfortable and Brasov is a lovely city. I would thoroughly recommend this trip to others. It was humbling and highly rewarding to work in the Sanctuary and to be able to see the magnificent bears on a daily basis over the two weeks. All the bears have been rescued from cruelty and hardship and to see them free to manifest more normal bear behaviours was very rewarding. Contributing to the running of the Sanctuary through bear food preparation and other Sanctuary maintenance tasks was enjoyable and gratifying and I felt like part of the team, even if only for two weeks. The Sanctuary itself is a place of peace and reflection and I came away feeling both grounded in nature and that I had made a small but significant contribution to something very positive....I plan to return, it was that good!

My daughter used Oyster travel to…
My daughter used Oyster Worldwide to complete the residential element for her Duke of Edinburgh. Kate at Oyster was simply fantastic. Answered and provided all the details and information needed for the trip. Reassured me as a parent and included me in the portal so I could access all the documents required. The trip to the Game reserve was an amazing experience and one that will be remembered for a lifetime. The staff were great supporting my daughter gain confidence and skills. She worked alongside other volunteers from around the world - not only learning about the flora and fauna of the area but learning about other cultures. My daughter's trip was 7 days but she wishes she stayed for at least 2 weeks. Her highlights were going to the school to prepare the school meals and experiencing the Big 5 up close. Can not recommend highly enough. Thank you.

I really enjoyed the whole experience & would definitely recommend it. The surf lessons were really good & the beach cleaning was fun. There was also plenty of time to socialise and explore. There was staff around to help but I felt really independent and overally it was a fantastic week and a great way to get my DoE residential

Oyster are a reputable well organised company
I have been impressed by the communication from oyster worldwide throughout the process from initial enquiry to project completion. They are well organised and are prepared to go the extra mile to accommodate requests ( we wanted a project with cats that would take a parent and 16 year old together) They also made sure that we could book our weeks in way ahead of the calender opening for that period which greatly helped in our own organisation!

Brilliant week away
The location was great, and I met some brilliant people in the hostel. Combining the beach conservation with surfing was good fun and being able to meet new people on nights out in Lisbon was excellent. I would love to do this trip again!
