Slapdash interview process
I applied for an account executive role with Lead Forensics in July. I was quite impressed with the business as a whole; the internal recruiter painted a lucrative and exciting picture for a place to work. Originally a F2F interview was planned, and I was prepping myself with the DNA of LF and how I would fit in; this was then changed to another teams meeting the day before. I prepped myself with how I would fit in and why I felt it would be a great place to work, I found this quite easy as my previous two sales roles essentially were a split of the role on offer and was simply a case of combing them, and the fitting in part was even easier as the recruiter told me how supportive the team is, and how a relatively new member of staff excelled to the point where they had purchased their first house. In the other words the culture was clearly welcoming and excited me greatly. However, the interview itself simply didn’t reflect that. I suspected the reason this became a virtually interview was because there were so many applicants and they didn’t have the capacity for all. This became evidently clear with the manager’s interview structure, of which there wasn’t really one. They didn’t ask me any of the questions I mentioned above, and challenged almost everything, they even asked what I meant by “jealousy is the thief of joy”. It became clear that this manager was looking for any excuse to dismiss me, which I think is a poor interview aim. You don’t learn an individual by their flaws alone, and shouldn’t scrutinise every single thing they say. You want them to feel comfortable and just be themselves. If they fit then great. If not then no big deal. The manager left it with me saying they would get back to me by the end of the week, but I never received anything from them. I even reached out to the internal recruiter who I initially spoke to and they blanked me. All in all, I’d have to say this was a frankly terrible experience, and was very disappointing. I am nowhere near conceited enough to say I am the best candidate and deserve the job, but I at the least deserve a response for my time and effort. I’ve heard great things about the business, and hope people continue to do well there, but as I was ignored by the business for wanting an honest answer to my application, I feel it’s best to leave my experience here, and hope they offer candidates at least a response in the future.

We've been working with Lead Forensics for the past year, and the experience has been excellent.
