Infelizmente apanhamos um objeto na…

Infelizmente apanhamos um objeto na autoestrada que partio uma boa parte do carro no para chocs. A assistencia e todo o grupo da cael foi impecavel e rapido para enviar um taxi para termos a possibilidade de recuperar um novo carro. E acima de tudo preocuparam se mais com o nosso bem estar que dos danos causados. Recumendamos muito a cael. Obrigado a toda a equipa.

Misleading information regarding credit card requirements

We made a booking with a debit card and completed the reservation without any issues. However, the day we were supposed to pick up the car, we were informed that a credit card was required and that a debit card would not be accepted. While this requirement may be stated in the terms and conditions, it was not sufficiently visible during the booking process. Had this information been presented more clearly, we would never have made the reservation. As a result, we were unable to collect the vehicle and had to cancel the booking. Unfortunately, because the cancellation happened at that stage, we were also charged cancellation fees. This was a frustrating experience that left us feeling misled. If a credit card is mandatory, that requirement should be displayed prominently before payment is taken. We would encourage the company to make this information much clearer to avoid other customers finding themselves in the same situation. The lack of visibility around the credit card requirement, combined with the cancellation fees, left us wondering whether the process is designed in a way that benefits the company financially when customers are unable to collect their vehicles.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We regret to learn that you were unable to collect your vehicle and understand the disappointment this situation may have caused. However, we would like to clarify that the requirement to present a valid physical credit card in the name of the main driver is communicated during the booking process and must be expressly acknowledged before a reservation can be completed. The following notice is displayed at the payment stage: "Accept that, to collect the vehicle, it is mandatory to present a Credit Card in the name of the main driver (Debit, Virtual or Prepaid Cards are not accepted), valid for at least 3 months, regardless of the payment method used to make the reservation or any insurance products purchased. Failure to physically present the Credit Card will result in the cancellation of the reservation and the application of the No Show fee as set out in the rental Terms & Conditions." This requirement applies irrespective of the method used to pay for the reservation and forms part of the rental conditions accepted at the time of booking. We appreciate your comments regarding the visibility of this information and continuously review our booking journey to ensure that all key rental requirements are communicated as clearly as possible. Nevertheless, in this case, the credit card requirement was presented and accepted prior to the confirmation of the reservation. Thank you once again for your feedback. We value all customer comments as they help us improve our services and customer experience.

We just rented from Cael in Lisbon

We just rented from Cael in Lisbon. Picked up downtown and dropped off at the airport. Extremely pleasant experience. Pick up and drop off were easy. Car was great. I highly recommend this rental company.

Very misleading pricing policy

The staff were fine, the car was ok although it had quite a few scratches but the pricing policy is borderline dishonest. On pick up you are told that you can pay €200 for full insurance or pay nothing and risk a €2000 charge for any damage, however slight. Most people are simply not going to take this risk so cough up €200 substantially increasing the overall cost. CAEL then don’t care if the car comes back with scratches (or dents) meaning that if you were to take the risk and not pay for the insurance it would be easy for them to point to one of the many existing marks and claim you caused it. Difficult to photograph them all. I will definitely not use them again.
