Bobo - Avoid Like the Plague!
Bobo are a dreadful company to deal with. We booked a 5 week trip in a Bobo Discoverer 4, travelling from Johannesburg to Capetown via Botswanna and Namibia - a trip of a lifetime. Our route was eventually agreed by Bobo (no mean feat, as there are so many restrictions of where you can and cannot drive) They also booked the majority of the campsites. We took out the full damage waiver insurance, just to be safe. The whole package cost us about £5500. Their vehicles are Iveco's, which most will know are at the budget end of the market. It turned out to be totally unfit for purpose, with numerous faults, including battery failure, cabin aircon failure, doors that did not seal and let dust and grit in, and a front bumber that partially fell off twice. We had to tie the bumper up with washing line, not ideal, as it could easily have failed and gone under the front wheels. Turns out this is a known and common problem with these vehicles. When stranded with a failed battery, Bobo authorised it's replacement by a local mechanic, who subsequently fitted a battery of smaller capacity (which failed again). Bobo refused to compensate us for the battery, stating it was our fault, even though their mechanic had directly authorised the repair with the local garage. Bobo state that you are responsible for general maintenance during the hire period, but do not supply adequate basic hand tools, power packs (for jump starting dead batteries) or air compressers (for inflating tyres). Luckily, we never got a puncture, but had to have the vehicle jump started countless times due to the many battery issues. The vehicle is incredibly noisy to drive on the 'washboard' gravel roads. You cannot hold a conversation and have to shout to be heard. Some of the Bobo booked campsites were atrocious, filthy, no facilities and in some cases no electrical power. We took one look at the last campsite we were to stay in, and left immediately, booking a hotel for the night instead. In fairness, there were campsites which were exceptionally good! On a 6500 Km trip through some relatively remote areas of Africa, you do expect issues, and we dealt with them as they happened. What was most disappointing was the company's refusal to fully refund our expenses incurred due to the inadeqaucies of their vehicle (let alone some of the unacceptable campsites). Nor, to offer any compensation for the stress and inconvenience we had to undergo. The staff at the Bobo Capetown depot were at least sympathetic and understanding, and cash refunded some of our incidental expenditure. However, the Johannesburg staff were a different matter, and their booking manager basically refused to accept any liability for the failed battery, or compensate us for our spoiled holiday. In the end, we accepted their paltry offer, as we really could not be bothered fighting it any more. In summary, do not use this company, and if you do, read the small print very carefully. If you do hire a vehicle from them, and it breaks down, get the company to rectify it, even if you are stranded - do not try to fix the problem yourself. They are simply not to be trusted. Would we return to Africa? In an instant, and we plan to - but never again with BOBO!!

Un po’ preoccupati dopo aver letto le recensioni negative abbiamo affrontato un viaggio con un camper 2 posti da Windhoek lungo la Namibia ed il Botswana in Okavango Delta. Ci siamo trovati molto bene, è bastato andare molto piano (anche solo 15-20 all’ora) nelle brutte strade fra Sesriem e Solitaire e all’interno dell’Etosha. Non abbiamo mai forato ed il motore non ha creato nessun problema durante tutti i 3660 Km da noi percorsi. Grazie Bobo Campers Windhoek!!!! Fabrizio e Anna

A fuir! Nous avons loué un campervan funx 26 jours. Le premier avait plus de 200000km et s est cassé en deux. Ils nous ont laissé dormir toute une nuit en pleine brousse. Au bout de 36h, ils nous ont livré une deuxième véhicule de 180000km. Il est tombé en panne ( alternateur) au bout de …20km! Panne réparée 8h plus tard… il retombe en panne 40 km plus tard ( injecteur). 4 jours d immobilisation au total, réservations de lodge et camping perdues. Refus d indemnisation de la part de la gérante malgré les termes du contrat. Le pire, une fois parti et de retour en France, elle a essayé par deux fois de débiter notre carte bancaire sans notre accord pour 1200€!!! Du vol. Fuyez cette personne et cette entreprise. Ils nous menacent désormais suite à la publication de l avis. Leurs véhicules sont vieux et mal entretenus et la gérante est de très mauvaise foi. Il y a d autre compagnie en Namibie où aller!

L’avantage de trust pilot c’est qu’on fait confiance donc ne faites surtout pas confiance aux voleurs de bobocampers. Aucun respect du contrat et des hommes, des vehicules… dangereux et de mauvaise foi

Ce sont des voleurs!
Ce sont des voleurs! Et en plus les véhicules loués sont tout simplement dangereux… passez votre chemin sauf si vous voulez gâcher vos vacances. Regardez bien les avis sur les forums de voyageurs et vous verrez. Aucun suivi des réparations… un scandal, et en plus de beaux mensonges! Le riducule ne tue pas
