Everything has gone wrong

Everything has gone wrong. Your website doesn't work. Revisions have been saved, but show as incomplete. Your publication and on-sale dates cause mismatches. Your customer service is bloody appalling. Perhaps you should consider hiring back the people you shed under the cover of COVID? You weren't always this horrible. You actually used to be relatively pleasant to deal with. And if you are going to use AI, maybe train it first? I pray, every day, for another company to come along and take your monopoly of this space away, because you clearly do not care about books or authors.

So now my account is locked.

So now my account is locked and I can't do a thing. I've no idea how long for and the people at customer service don't answer. I know it was my own fault, but even so... Also, their insistence on pdf/1-Xa is causing me great problems.

Really disappointed that this is what we have to use

This is basically what happens when a company has a monopoly over a service. I work in a customer facing role, so I absolutely have empathy for the staff involved, but the solution to a problem like this isn't to become LESS contactable. The ticketing service is incredibly slow to get a response, which is really stressful when you need an urgent answer to a query; you shouldn't have to message them on Instagram to get them to look at your ticket! It's also so dependent on who you get - sometimes the staff are really clear and efficient, other times their advice is completely unhelpful. They have no phone number, so you can't speak to an actual person. Then you had an AI chatbot: it didn't do much, but at least it gave you the illusion of progress. You essentially have to learn how to do everything by making a mistake, and then remembering not to do that again the next time. Now they have an AI chatbot built into their help page that gives you a pessimistic, 30 word summary of your situation, but no actual advice on how to proceed. Your only other option was to PAY to speak to a 'professional'...it's not okay to ask people to pay for assistance, but that's moot now anyway, because their professionals don't actually offer IngramSpark specific help - just general, industry 'advice'. A lot of the written documents/guidance they provide is too heavy and cumbersome to be useful, and mostly just gives you a 'do what you want at your own peril' vibe. Then there is the selling to AI thing. Did you know there's an opt out form where you can request that your book isn't given away to AI companies, and asks IngramSpark to do everything within their power to stop that from happening? No? I'm not surprised, considering the form is buried and it's basically only available on request. Otherwise the implication is, if you don't sign that, they'll just allow it to happen. I don't know, I hate complaining but it's made the whole process of publishing my debut book way harder than it needed to be...

Authors Regret

New author to IngramSpark here -- I ordered copies of my books on August 11 and August 12. The copies going to my publishing consulting are finally shipping as of yesterday. The other copies, mailing address to me, are still in "printing" status. It makes zero sense that this is happening. It is now almost two full weeks since ordering. Separately, I created a support ticket on Wednesday, August 19th, and have yet to receive any reply. I'm highly disappointed in the shipping delays and the customer service as a new author. This frustration drove me to dig deeper into the overall service and product delivery decline of IngramSpark (shame I didn't do this research before -- all my other "author friends" apparently use IngramSpark so here we are). I find it interesting that with the amount of documented complaints against this company (, Reddit, Better Business Bureau), more is not being done to improve their systems. Charging people to talk to a human for support now? You've turned your back on your customers and authors.

Why won't you respond?

Have been waiting over two weeks now for a response to a query I sent, regarding problems with their digital proof of my book looking different to what I submitted (they keep cropping the pictures, yet I have double checked my file several times and all print specs and layout were correct). The selection settings also keep changing to USA and 430 pages and won't keep my selection (428 pages and UK). This is the second time I have asked for help via email (as the help topics don't cover what I want to ask) and had to wait two weeks. The last time, when I finally got a response, the person who responded didn't even read the question properly. Why does it take so long for your customer service department to respond? (Surely you can't be that short staffed?) I have been delayed for two months now in getting my book printed and thus still can't go to any potential sellers (or my own stall) with it yet because I can't go ahead until the problems with the website and Eproof are sorted. IngramSpark, do you actually want customers? Because if so, you need to actually respond to them, otherwise they will be forced to go elsewhere, like I'm doing. We can't use your services if you prevent us from doing so and we can't keep waiting weeks and weeks for your customer service department to read one email!
