The South Greenland expedition on the Ultramarine
The South Greenland expedition on the Ultramarine was an adventure to remember. From the heli landing in the Greenland ice sheet, zodiac cruising, kayaking around the icebergs, and visiting local small communities, the expedition team were passionate about guiding us through these experiences. Emphasis was always on safety first. The muck boots they provide and the jacket that you get to keep are perfect for the climate and you don't need to bring another jacket. The educational lectures were done by experts in the field and were so interesting and impressive. The entire team are professionals and experts, and dedicated to what they do. We thoroughly enjoyed this expedition and would highly recommend it. You'll never go hungry either. Dining was also an experience in itself. Delicious meals with lots of choices. Open bar with lots of non-alcoholic options. The spa and sauna were a great addition after spending the day outside. A small gym also allowed for work outs, if you hadn't had enough from the daily excursions. Weather in Greenland changed rapidly, but Sarah, our expedition leader, would adapt the itinerary to follow the good weather. We ended up the eastern side of Greenland to get in our last day of spectacular heli sight seeing over the glacier fields. Truly a trip to remember.

All staff on the ship was excellent
All staff on the ship was excellent. Hotel staff, the expedition guides, kitchen staff all excellent. For my own tastes, I found the outings a little repetitive. Hike in the morning, zodiac in the afternoon...while the hikes were not all the same, there were a lot of similarities. i liked most of the zodiac rides except the last one was boring.

Great expedition leader
Great expedition leader, very good team work, very experienced ship captain and crew. We were able to witness a total solar eclipse in NE Greenland. There were many challenges due to cloud cover, only a narrow window of blue sky was located but Captain Yuri and expedition leader Jake was able to guide MV Ultramarine to the right spot at the right time, experiencing a total solar eclipse in these northern latitude was magical.

My fourth expedition with Quark
My fourth expedition with Quark. Each trip has been an improvement on the previous one. On this occasion the organisers and (very skilled) crew went out of their way to accommodate my needs and make my trip more comfortable. Highly recommended.

Viewing the total eclipse
The focus of the trip was to view the total eclipse and the brilliant team put together to secure this goal certainly delivered, right down to deciding to move our position just 20 minutes before totality, which secured our perfect view, while others nearby missed out. Special thanks must go to the teams eclipse expert, David Baron, for making that call.
