Arctic June 2026

My wife and I recently (June 26) did an Arctic cruise with Poseidon, and everything far exceeded our expectations, the crew and expedition staff were all so welcoming and knowledgeable. I also took advantage of the Sea Kayaking, and I would thoroughly recommend this as part of the adventure.

A great experience overall

A great experience overall - if scoring allowed I would have given the cruise 4.5. The scenery and the feeling of being on the edge of being a true explorer whilst enjoying home comforts met my expectations. The ship’s crew always had smile on their faces, whatever the time of day or request. The expedition guides were knowledgeable and when it wasn’t their specialist subject, sought out the answer to any questions. With practically no « sea days » the pace of activities was full . On the plus side we fitted a lot in; on the negative side it was obvious that on the last couple of days some were starting to flag . Why did I not give the cruise 5 stars? It would have been nice if more of the guides( some were very sociable) had joined the passengers at meals rather than sitting at an obvious guides table. The cabins were well appointed and clean but a little tired particularly the bathrooms. In addition incorrect information in the room about connecting to the internet, and misleading information about unlocking and opening the balcony door were an irritation albeit quickly resolved.A quick job to correct this. Would I recommend it? Yes but remember that an Expedition Cruise is very different from the standard holiday cruise ship.

And you are absolutely right about the pace — expedition cruising can be wonderfully exhausting! I recently joined Poseidon Expeditions…

I recently joined Poseidon Expeditions for their "taster" cruise from Llandudno to Greenock, and it was the perfect introduction to small-ship expedition cruising. The highlight was definitely the Zodiac excursion off Northern Ireland; as a photographer, getting close-up shots of the "seabird cities" on the cliffs, lounging seals, and a playful pod of dolphins was an incredible experience. Between the expert-led workshops (especially from Huw Lewis-Jones whose passion was clear for all to see! (as was the whole teams)), the seamless embarkation via Zodiac, and the social atmosphere of the whole sailing, it was a fantastic, well-organized trip that managed to pack a full expedition experience into just a few days. I cannot wait to send clients to the Polar regions with Poseidon!

Poseidon Expeditions exceeded…

Poseidon Expeditions exceeded expectations in every way, and I honestly could not recommend them more highly if you are looking for a true expedition experience. From the beautiful cabins, and there genuinely was not a bad one onboard, to the staff who truly care, the spotless ship, and the fantastic food, every detail was exceptional. What really made the experience unforgettable, however, was the expedition team. Their passion, knowledge, and dedication to ensuring guests experience the very best of the wildlife, nature, and raw beauty of each destination were outstanding. I did one of their UK expeditions, and it completely changed my perspective. I never imagined I would see and learn so much about the UK from such a different and inspiring viewpoint. I am completely sold and already looking at which cruise I can book next.

British Isles Showcase

A short exploration of the British Isles, which showcased what spectacular scenery and wildlife we have on our own doorstep. Lovely little ship with excellent staff onboard, spacious and comfortable cabins, good outdoor decks for viewing and large lounges and areas for relaxing. The expedition crew were top notch, enthusiastic and made the most of the opportunities to get us off the ship & exploring.
