Experience was not commensurate with the price

Like: The conversation breakdown makes recall and reproduction seem easy and casual. The pace of learning is broken down into easy steps and levels so it doesn't feel overwhelming. First dislike: I am an intermediate 2nd language speaker. Pimsleur asked how proficient I was in two different situations, but in neither situation did my answer matter for my lesson structure. In both situations, it started me at level 1, lesson 1. That tells me that the only reason to ask is to have just another data point. A language learning platform this prestigious should at the very least have a simple placement test to help learners get started at an appropriate level. Second dislike: When I did find the appropriate level, the translation prompts were inaccurate. In one prompt, the article "the" was used for the English prompt, but the article that translates to "that" was used in the learning language conversation. Then another prompt was given that used ambiguous English words that, when taken plainly, would require one translation, but when taken in a different context, would require another. That is just lazy on the part of the lesson creators. The learner should not have to try to guess at what the prompt is requiring. Pimsleur is a premium language learning platform, both in reputation and price. I expected a better experience. I'm just glad I found out before my free trial was over.

With Pimsleur You Learn to Speak

The best aspect of Pimsleur courses is that they require you to speak the language you are learning. Second is that they have you recall words and phrases soon after you learn them and repeatedly later . It depends on this, do you want to learn about a language or do you want to be able to speak that language? If your goal is to speak it, Pimsleur is the best!

Pimsleur language is an effective means…

Pimsleur language is an effective means to learn basic Spanish. It is excellent with vocabulary and verb tenses. Most language applications that I've used advertise that you will learn the language the way you did as a child. I've tried three different learning applications and none of them teach in that order. I am a good reader, affair speaker, and still have difficulty with comprehension. If you're going to use the language application and intend to become functional and fluent, you need immersion in a culture or start watching movies in the new language where subtitles are available.

Simply amazing

Simply amazing. Been learning Hebrew on Pimsleur and quite impressed by how quickly one starts speaking and remembering. From day one you start with relevant sentences. Not flashcards with random words but complete sentences. It also teaches you to think in the language as the speaker ask how do you say or how would you respond to scenarios. They offer military discounts which is also a bonus to those of us who served. It really is my favorite language learning tool I use Has voice coach flashcard memory tools and much more. Highly recommend. Keith
