Once they were brilliant. Now they are cheap, chiselling shysters. Avoid.
I bought my first Piel Frama case 18 years ago, and at first had nothing but praise for both their craftsmanship (that first iPod Touch case is even better now than it was new) and customer service. That has changed dramatically. The first sign of trouble was in 2018 when they refused to repair a custom iPhone case that had started falling to pieces as the glue degraded after only two years. The case was expensive, and UK consumer law specifies that a life of a minimum of six years for such goods is a reasonable expectation. Piel Frama denied any responsibility because the case was outside the company’s stated period of guarantee: one year. I couldn’t be bothered to argue. So far so shoddy (and also illegal), but I decided merely to have nothing more to do with them rather than waste time and money on a claim To be quite honest I had forgotten this when last week I ordered an iPad case from them. I still had a couple of Piel Frama cases that continue to serve me well (and have even improved with age), and that left me with some residual affection for the company. Big mistake. Price listed on the web page for the case I ordered for an 11” iPadAir was €165. However, the check out page revealed a charge of another €30 for postage to the UK. That is nearly three times the amount charged for any of my previous orders. It was stated only at the very last minute during the payment process. I gritted my teeth and paid it, exactly as they hoped. A cheap trick, to say the least, but not their worst. When UPS arrived with my new €195 case, they demanded another £53 in “import duty” - the first time that this has ever happened to me without notice. There was no warning on the website of any possibility of additional charges (or none that I could see) nor, it turned out, anywhere that stated (or even hinted at) what the true cost of my new case actually would be. The only warning was an email sent at 1am on the day of delivery that there would be a charge. As the courier woke me, I had not looked at my mail. So the true cost of what was advertised as a case for €165, or about £140 turned out in fact to be €257, or more than £218 - €92, £78 or 55% more than the listed price. I wrote to Piel Frama to give them a chance to explain themselves, or even to rectify the situation. The response? Silence. To which my response is: do not touch this company. Once they were brilliant. Now they are despicable scammers. Avoid.

US now charging customs duty on Piel Frama cases
I have bought 10 or more cases from Piel Frama over the years. The quality is consistently very high. In fact I give them a 5/5 for their product. Unfortunately, this time UPS charged me 50% customs duty on the item. There was no indication when I ordered the item that they are now subject to customs duty. The company should have notified the buyer during the purchase process. 0/5 for the product costing me 50% more than it should have.

Good customer service
My review is two parts: Five star for the responsiveness and customer service. Spent over 150 usd for a case ordered from their website. I was so excited to receive the case but the phone did not fit They helped figure what could have happened and it turned out I was sent a wrong case after some back and forth as they were confident about the quality of their produxt. The leather was indeed good but the camera cover was for a wrong phone size. They graciously refunded me whilst keeping the case though I really do not know anybody with iphone 13 and offered gift to compensate. Unfortunately, it did not change the disappointment and of course the extra cost to bring it in such as the custom duty. Overall, I would reorder but just didnt have the need for a case yet as I had to buy a cheap fake leather from amazon.
