Deceptive, uses AI on photos without consent
Photogov is absolute garbage. This website preys on the ignorant or less tech-savvy who won't be able to immediately tell that they're full of crap. AI generated images abound on their impressive-looking but paper-thin website. Their most prominent review is likely fake as it comes from a seemingly defunct scam company, Apollo Technical, given its many reviews on BBB about somehow managing to not exist but also charging a subscription service for security cameras. Photogov explicit lies that "all 4 [AI-generated] photos will be 100% compliant with US passport photo requirements", when the actual guidance from the US government explicitly prohibits "filters and digital changes" - an ironic claim considering Photogov recognizes this policy and even highlights it on their "About Us" page, while brazenly lying about their compliance once again. They spend so many words about their security, compliance, and technical sophistication while utterly refusing to give any specific details of how they are meeting those standards and with what technology they do so. Worst of all to me, Photogov misleads their customers by not informing them that their photo will be fed to an AI until after they have already uploaded that photo to the website and processed. Granted, this is implied by certain lines in the "How it works?" article (whose poor English is another point of suspicion to me), but I do not believe that consent can be granted by assumption that a customer will pour over every article on a website before using a related service. Regardless of the precise legalities, I am certain of one thing - Photogov is a deceptive, awful company with a service specifically designed to trick people into giving up their data and money to unknown third parties without (in my belief) proper consent.
