Bought my Pedalease folding mountain…
Bought my Pedalease folding mountain bike pre-pandemic as an early retirement present. Brilliant 1st day. Loved it. Then it disintegrated. Maybe managed 100 miles total. I'm writing today since it's finally escaping my home and is off to the dump. Debated offering it as a free fixer upper, but these reviews suggest I'd simply be causing unfair pain.

Battery arrived no problems..but if anything does go wrong absolutely no way to contact them..I did try lot's of ways with no success..

Awful customer service, unreliable product
Customer service was not only non existent, when I finally managed to get through to them, the man (he was the director) was extremely rude to a point that I could not believe. The crank snapped on mine after its 3rd outing as well as the electronics failing leaving me with a bike with one crank arm and pedal and electric would not help me. All of this in the middle of London. He even tried to tell me I shouldn’t be using it on the road so it’s my fault. I still have mine but I darent use it and the pedal has broken again but this time not the crank. I will of course not be contacting them to fix it as I cannot stand the stress. Such awful people to deal with, never ever again

I purchased the Pedalease 48v 1500w 20 inch wheel Kit for a Dissabled offroad Buggy. It was great to find Pedalease had UK stock in Hayes at competitive prices with free DHL 48 hour delivery. Their phone line was busy with a message suggesting contact via WhatsApp, so this is what I did. Later that morning I recieved a very polite message apologising for a slightly late response, confirm they had stock ready to send. So I ordered from their website and paid by PayPal, true to their word a very well packed box arrived the day after the following day. Quality is excellent, a branded KT controller was included with the well reviewed KCD3 LCD display. The picture did not do it justice, the wheel was fitted with a 7 speed Shimano compatible sprocket, a throttle, KT Controller/Display, a disc and two switched brake levers plus a Pedalease branded controller bag was included too! Even front and rear lights with a horn were included also. I was worried that a direct drive hub motor without internal reduction gears would be all speed and no torque, but this thing is awsome, with amazing power to climb hills. The small diameter wheel probably helps this too. I have just covered 10 miles purely on electric power without impacting the 10 A/h battery charge level much so range is good also, but I'm no speed freak, just need the torque. Being a branded controller I can upgrade in the future to a KT Sinusoidal unit that will plug directly into the display if I want a totally silent motor. All modified squarewave controllers produce a hum in the motor windings, but this one is quieter than many. I love this type of motor as nothing to wear out except the spindle bearings, unlike geared hubs with nylon gears. I will be making some Torque arms, as with this amount of power, the spindle will want to rotate in my soft Alloy frame in the long term, however thick anti rotate Torque Washers are supplied in the kit. As with any hub motor, having a twisted off motor power cable is a real headache. A nice touch with this kit I haven't seen before, is the motor cable runs out from the side of the spindle before it goes through the frame, so if it was fitted to a bicycle, and it was dropped, the cable would not be squashed where it comes out from the spindle end. But strap it tightly to the frame preventing damage from the disc retaining screws. If you want someone to hold your hand installing a motorised kit, this one probably isn't for you, but there are plenty of cycle shops arround to do this, with prices to match! However there are enough instructional video's posted on YouTube to enable anyone that is a bit Tech Savy to accomplish this job. Don't make the mistake I made of wasting money on 36v kits or any kit intended for a UK legal or slightly illegal bicycle. If you are Dissabled and physically can't pedal, they simply DO NOT go up steep hills unassisted in spite of all the hype claiming otherwise. I've read mixed reviews for Pedalease but noticed there was nothing for this year and people (including myself sometimes) want to vent their anger if things don't go well, but are less than enthusiastic to leave good reviews for excellent products and service. Therefore I was keen to leave this positive review as companies trading from the UK with UK stock, at competitive prices, really need supporting in these difficult times. Thank you Pedalease, Mark
