Very concerning payment structure
Very concerning payment structure – investigate this scheme My experience with Kryptonim has raised extremely serious concerns about the way their payment services are being used. I made several SEPA payments which, on my bank statement, appeared to be ordinary payments to a third-party company. Only after investigating the transactions did I discover that the payment was apparently connected to a cryptocurrency purchase and subsequent transfer. What concerns me most is the payment masking involved. From the perspective of a Dutch bank customer, the transaction appears to be a normal SEPA payment to a company, while the underlying purpose of the payment is something completely different. Kryptonim has now told me that I personally authorized these transactions and that my fiat funds were exchanged for cryptocurrency and subsequently transferred to wallet addresses that I allegedly authorized. There is one major problem with that statement: I do not have a Kryptonim account and I do not have a cryptocurrency wallet with them. I have therefore asked Kryptonim to provide the evidence supporting their claim, including the account details, KYC information, authorization records, wallet addresses and blockchain transaction hashes showing exactly where my money supposedly went. Instead of providing that evidence, they told me that cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible and advised me to contact my bank if I believe the transactions were unauthorized. I have now done exactly that. I have reported the transactions to my bank and I am requesting that the payment route and the possibility of a SEPA recall be investigated. I am also preserving all correspondence and transaction records. What I find particularly concerning is the possibility that payment structures like this can mask the actual nature and destination of payments from consumers and potentially from their banks. If this is part of a wider scheme, I believe it deserves serious investigation by financial regulators, law enforcement and investigative journalists. I will therefore be escalating this matter further, including to the relevant authorities and potentially to Dutch investigative programmes such as BNNVARA BOOS and Opgelicht, so that the wider payment structure can be investigated. There may be many other consumers who have encountered similar payment routes without fully understanding where their money was actually going. Kryptonim should be able to clearly explain: Who opened the alleged account? Who authorized the transactions? Which wallet received the cryptocurrency? And where did the money ultimately go? I am asking for evidence, not explanations. Until those questions are properly answered, I consider this payment structure extremely concerning and believe the entire scheme should be independently investigated.
