On one of the hot days of summer 2026, we decided to spend a night at Hotel Kong Arthur. We had previously been impressed by its lounge and cocktails, as well as its breakfast—both covered in separate reviews—so it was time to try the complete overnight experience. The hotel certainly does not economise on design. High-end brands appear discreetly everywhere, from the Dyson fan in the bedroom to the elegant copper Grohe tap in the bathroom. You can sit quietly in your room admiring all the details—and, if you happen to be renovating your own home, leave with a dangerously long list of new ideas. The staff were once again exceptionally friendly and accommodating. This remains one of the hotel’s strongest qualities and a major reason why I continue to recommend it. Unfortunately, the room was extremely hot. The Dyson fan had to run at full speed throughout the night, at which point it became considerably less discreet than the interior design. The hotel does not use air conditioning because of its environmental impact, which I understand and generally support. But during a genuinely hot summer period, a cool bedroom would have felt like the real luxury. Instead, we spent the night listening to a rather determined fan. Judging by the many open hotel windows visible from the street, we were certainly not the only guests trying to negotiate with the temperature. After a rather mixed night’s sleep, it was time to try the bathroom. The heated floor tiles felt wonderfully welcoming, although a couple of design choices were less successful. Without a proper shower enclosure, water quickly spread across the floor around the toilet and washbasin—not especially pleasant for the second person entering the room. The shower offered both an overhead and a handheld option, but finding the precise position of the selector was surprisingly difficult. Be prepared for an unintended hair wash while experimenting. Breakfast once again provided plenty of beautiful details. Even the cutlery was designed by Kay Bojesen, while we sat in Wegner’s famous Wishbone chairs. I have both at home, so that made me smile—and feel momentarily as if the hotel had borrowed its breakfast room from my apartment. Morning coffee is an important ritual, so I ordered a latte immediately. Sadly, something was clearly missing. The milk lacked the richness needed for a good latte, and the coffee tasted thin and oddly dusty—rather like accidentally using the same Nespresso capsule twice. I tried several cups in the interests of thorough research, but they were all consistently disappointing. Surprisingly, the ordinary filter coffee was considerably better, so I switched to that. With so many excellent cafés in the surrounding neighbourhood, the hotel’s latte really ought to be able to compete. Fortunately, the food itself was much more successful. Fresh eggs and good cheese are cornerstones of a proper breakfast buffet, and both were offered in excellent variety. Do not cheat yourself of that experience. On our way out, I discovered that the hotel offers a complimentary booklet called Our Interior, explaining its many design choices. I have never encountered that at another hotel, and it perfectly demonstrates how seriously Kong Arthur takes its interior concept. Overall, we still love Hotel Kong Arthur and will certainly return. The wonderful staff, excellent breakfast and beautifully considered surroundings make it a very special place. This stay receives four stars, however: one was lost somewhere between the overheated bedroom and the disappointing latte.

First, the staff is very service-minded and the ambience is nice. But this hotel is incredibly overpriced, hence the 2 stars. There is not even A/C in the rooms, and the breakfast is not that good. Even borderline 1 star if you prioritize getting value for your money. To the hotel's defense, accomodation is generally expensive in Copenhagen - but then either spend the money for topnotch accomodation in other European cities, or use CPHs excellent metro systems and take a less central place.

gave the Hotel 6 months notice that we could not make the reservation date because the flights had been cancelled. Asked if we could move to another date when we could arrange new flights but they flately refused to do anything except charge us the full amount.
