good performance, corrupting backups

honest customer experience... performance is the only good thing about this host. backups take 1 hour for a 7GB world and even though it takes so long, it corrupted my chunks after loading the backup (on multiple different occasions). and to download the backup to get it onto your pc, you will need to wait 30 additional minutes because instead of downloading it straight from the "Backups" page, you need to first upload it from the "Backups" page to the "File Manager" page and then download it from there. I rather have a server for the same price with 20% less performance and a working backup system instead of a good performing server where my world corrupts. No other server host I hosted on had this problem Other than backups, I sometimes need to wait 10-20 minutes to log into my server in Minecraft, because "the authentication servers are down", which they blame on Mojang, and I don´t buy it since EVERY SINGLE other server works. This made me write the review because it is just rage baiting me Edit: Sometimes all players from the server get kicked from all servers (even servers from split tool) after typing in simple commands. Server freezes for like 1 min too

Hello, Sorry to hear you weren’t happy with Kinetic. I wanted to address the issues you raised in your review. Regarding the Mojang authentication servers, these are operated entirely by Mojang and aren’t something Kinetic controls. While I don’t know the exact internal setup Mojang uses, their authentication infrastructure is distributed across different regions and services. This means an issue can sometimes affect connections to certain servers while others continue to work normally. Best place to look when you see this message is somewhere like down detector. I can see that when you had this issue, other users were reporting issues there too. I can see our team explained this in your ticket as well. If you search for Mojang/Minecraft authentication server outages, you’ll find plenty of information about how these issues can affect Minecraft servers independently of the hosting provider. Regarding backups, all of our backups are stored off-site on separate systems. We do this so your backups remain safe even if something happens to the physical server your Minecraft server is hosted . Our backup system uses Borg, which is incremental. The first backup can therefore take some time, but later backups should generally be considerably faster because only the data that has changed needs to be backed up. When restoring or downloading a backup, the backup has to be reconstructed, so we place it in your File Manager. That is why there can be an additional delay before you can download it. We agree this process could be smoother, and it is something we want to improve. If you want a very quick local copy before making changes to your server, I’d also recommend making use of our Instance feature as that is a near instant backup. Backups store the server files as they existed when the backup was created and shouldn’t themselves cause chunk corruption. I also haven’t seen any other reports of backups corrupting worlds in this way. If you still have one of the affected backups, please open a ticket with us so we can investigate exactly what happened. Regarding the server freezes, our Performance servers use high-end hardware such as Ryzen 9 7950X and 9950X CPUs, and we also publish node utilisation on our public stats page so you can see we don't overload the system. So the freezing seems to be linked to something you're running rather than the hardware A one-minute freeze when running certain commands sounds like something we should be able to investigate. If you open a ticket, our team can help you run a Spark report and identify what is causing the server to stall, but I wont lie a small micro freeze can be a real pain to find the cause of. Your criticism of the backup restore/download speed, and your experience with the server freezing, are completely fair things to include in your review. However, I do think blaming Kinetic for Mojang authentication server outages is unfair, as those systems are outside of our control. Once you’ve had a chance to look into how Minecraft authentication works, I’d appreciate it if you could edit that part of the review.
