⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent support when it really mattered I’ve been using InstantNode for our VDS hosting and recently had a fairly complicated issue involving SSH access, firewall rules, Fail2ban and our AzuraCast radio setup. Their support was excellent. They didn’t just give me a generic reply or tell me to reboot the server — they actually investigated the problem, restored access, corrected the firewall configuration, unbanned my IP and even kept a backup of the previous rules. They also explained clearly what had happened, which gave me a lot more confidence that the issue had been properly looked at rather than just temporarily patched. We run both a website and an internet radio service, so downtime can be a real headache. Having support that responds quickly and understands the technical side makes a huge difference. There are still a couple of networking details being checked, but the support so far has been fast, friendly and genuinely helpful. Very impressed with InstantNode so far and definitely happy to recommend them.

Hi Volodymyr, The fair-use system runs on its own. It samples CPU, disk I/O and network, and it sent that notification automatically. Nobody looked at your account and decided you needed a warning. A notification is also not a measure. At that point nothing is throttled and nothing is suspended; it only tells you a threshold was crossed. A migration saturates disk and network for hours, and that is the same shape as sustained overuse, so it can set the system off. False reports like that happen, and as a rule they go no further. The policy exists because the hardware is shared. Every plan except VDS runs on shared cores, so one instance pegging a node is paid for by everyone else on it. Those limits are what hold the prices where they are, and what keeps your neighbour from eating the CPU you paid for. It cuts both ways, so the rules are built to be checked rather than taken on trust: every threshold is published at instantnode.eu/fair-use, the engine refuses to start if it is set stricter than the published figure, and it cannot act on a service it has not written to first. The network rule needs two conditions at once, your instance near its limit and the node itself saturated, so using bandwidth you paid for on a quiet node never triggers anything. - Ben, InstantNode

A support agent reinstalled my entire…

A support agent reinstalled my entire VPS without asking for my confirmation, which resulted in me losing around $700 worth of data. Later, when I purchased several more VPSs, I selected monthly billing. Unfortunately, some of the servers were set to hourly billing instead. I immediately contacted the owner about this issue when I noticed it, but I was told that it was not a problem on their end. I know what I selected, so I find that explanation very disappointing. As a result, three VPSs expired, and I lost all the data on them because I no longer had enough funds to keep them running. Altogether, this experience has cost me around $2,000. The dashboard and infrastructure are good, but there is still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to customer experience and, especially, support. Unfortunately, my experience with them has not been a good one.

Hi luclup, thank you for taking the time to share this, and I'm sorry your experience wasn't better. First, the reinstall: that should never have happened without your explicit confirmation, and we're sorry for the data and trust that cost you. Since then we've tightened staff interaction rules specifically to prevent this from happening again. On the billing question, I understand it's frustrating to be told "it's not on our end" without evidence. You don't have to take our word for it: in the dashboard under Billing then Activity, you can click back on the pages and search for "initial payment" entries for the affected VPSs. The amount tells you the billing cycle that was actually charged (e.x. 0.0023€ for hourly vs. 1.50€ for monthly). We know none of this makes up for the $2,000 in lost data, but we do want to make it right where we can and make sure it doesn't happen to someone else. - or you again.
