Bio Hotel Eggensberger Hopfen am See An Excellent stay in a Specialised Hotel

We are drawing to the end of a 5 day stay at the Eggensberger Hotel in Hopfen am See, Bavaria. We have had a most enjoyable stay both at this hotel but also in the area. We were unfortunately somewhat restricted by the unpredictable weather as we had thunderstorms and heavy rain during this period The food in the hotel is excellent and good value for money. There is no choice in the menu but we enjoyed everything that was put in front of us. There were several courses but each one most sensibly small. Service by the staff both in the Reception and in the Restaurant was first class. We booked a Junior Suite for the overnight stays. Somewhat small for this description but perfectly adequate for our needs. Room service was a little patchy but what shines forth in this hotel is the cleanliness throughout with most pleasant aromas in the public spaces. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom shower excellent with plenty of hot water. Toilet is in the bathroom and not separate and there is only one basin and only one mirror. No mirrors elsewhere in the room. Guests must realise before booking that this is a Wellness Hotel (Bio Hotel). So if you are not into yoga, saunas, gym, aerobic exercises, you won't be taking full advantage of the hotel's offerings. We are not into this but it didn't matter We were sorry that our German was not up to scratch but the staff whose English was better than my German did its best to accommodate our shortcomings. Anyone who comes to this part of Bavaria should recognise that their enjoyment would be much enhanced if they were able to speak German. It is wrong to presuppose that all Germans speak English. I am going to do a language course in German when I get back to the UK. The Fussen travel card provided by the hotel is very useful for the local busses and offer small discounts for other activities. Taxis are excellent and avoid long waits at bus stops. The Town of Fussen is a delight and offer good cafes and restaurants. The pedestrian walkways throughout the town are great and the buildings with their art craft on their walls are really to be admired. Do not miss the inside of the churches. They are absolutely beautiful. By the way, " Gruss Gott" has largely been replaced by " Hallo". More international but I prefer "Gruss Gott" We have had a very happy time despite the weather and our language shortcomings
