Hollystar is an overpriced scam
Hollystar is the most inflated online media product there is. You pay a monthly subscription equivalent to Netflix, but this doesn't guarantee that you can watch films for free. You typically pay another CHF4 on top of that to rent a film (per film), or if a film is not available for rental, you actually have to pay full price for it (typically around CHF20). So the question is, what am I paying for with the monthly subscription? Undoubtedly, it has the best range of online media in Switzerland. But there's no guarantee you can watch it properly. You can expect to download a film in English and get the German instead ... then you'll have to reboot. You're rental does not always play instantaneously - you might be lucky, or you'll get a dead smart TV screen because the download doesn't work, in which case you need to switch to your computer and download your rental unless you're willing to lose you're 48 hour rental. Of the six films I downloaded in 3 months. Three played back immediately, same as Netflix. The rest I ended up forfeiting (and paying for) or having to play via my computer and an HDMI connection. You'll also want to know that when you're travelling you can't access you're Hollystar account, because it's not active in markets outside of Switzerland. Contacting customer service is also an issue - you'll get referred to an "Expert Customer", who is just another customer you can talk to but who has no clue how to resolve issues other than the most basic elements of how to use Hollystar. It's an atrocious product made even more so by the total price tag.
