A Disappointing Experience
Since so many Hard Rock Cafe restaurants around the world have closed down, including the closest one to my home in Manchester, England, I am now only able to enjoy visits when I travel to London, or to other specific cities around the world. Whilst I understand the business rationale for this, it is disappointing that no other way could be found to maintain profitability. The restaurant is superbly located in the heart on the west end of London, and it is always extremely busy. I made a reservation several days in advance and I was invited to make a choice between a high table and a standard style table. As a single diner, it was very apparent that I was being steered strongly towards the smaller higher tables as a way of managing footfall and maximising the utilisation of space. This, however, was to the extent of being ridiculous, and between arriving and being seated, I was asked proactively asked no less than three times if I wanted to have a higher table, having resisted all offers to this effect. The ambiance in the restaurant was very lively and enjoyable and it did deliver what HRC is famous for. All areas were clean and all staff members were well groomed. I had two servers over the course of my meal and both were very friendly and efficient. The criticisms that I am going to levy are against Hard Rock Cafe, Piccadilly Circus and not the servers. The restaurant is relatively new and very well laid out and very clean. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and when a person visits HRC they know the standard to expect and the range and style of food will be consistent throughout the world. I ordered a side, Caesar Salad as a starter and then a standard Nacho Sharing Platter for my main course. This was accurately confirmed back to me and the starter arrived in decent time and was of a good quality. Things went a little wrong at this point in that I was less than halfway into my starter when my mail course arrived. I was nowhere near ready for this and so I asked the person bringing it (not one of my two servers), to take it back and keep it warm. The person just did not seem to grasp why it was inappropriate to bring it when I was still eating my starter. When my nacho platter was finally brought out for me to eat, it was virtually cold, and I had to ask my original server to take it away and reheat it. This was done and it was brought back a few minutes later and was fine. The server did follow up and confirmed that I was satisfied. This whole matter was a very disappointing experience. I later ordered a small ice cream sundae for dessert. When visiting Hard Rock Cafe, I do like and value the fact that soft drinks come with complimentary refills. Whilst this is clearly factored into the base cost price, it is the American way and does add great value to the customers perception. Hard Rock Cafe, Piccadilly Circus operates a system of automatically adding a 12.5% service charge to all bills. It is made clear that this is discretionary and guess can request it to be removed, but this is a very controversial topic that does not sit well with customers in this country. This reviewer is vehemently against the practice as I wish to be free to decide what gratuity to give and for this to be paid at whatever level is appropriate to the actual person providing service excellence and not shared out to people in the background when I have absolutely zero idea of whether they have given good service or not. Prices should cover the service charge, and it should not be a separate charge to the customer. If necessary, prices should be increased to cancel this out. There is a very blurred line between service charge and gratuity and this was evidenced today when, in addition to the service charge, I was invited to add a tip in addition. I am absolutely fine with tipping, but this is something that is entirely at the gift of the customer and can be directed towards staff members who provide service excellence. If service charges are made and a gratuity expected, this can conservatively add 25% to a bill, and this is not acceptable. This was a very disappointing visit.

Tidernas mest överskattade restaurangkedja! Det är enormt dyrt 💸 du får vänta länge på maten ⌛ och dessutom får du väldigt låg kvalitet på maten. Speciellt Hard Rock Café i Göteborg som slår alla rekord. Maten de serverar där är nämligen pinsamt dålig, sämre än vad du lagar hemma i ditt eget kök. Beställer du deras lax med potatismos så får du en bit smaklös lax utan kryddor. Du får skal i potatismoset och en halv citron som tar mer plats på tallriken än moset. Du får ingen sås men du får frysta morötter och fryst broccoli som är sönderkokad och full med vatten. Pinsamt!

We bezochten met 6 personen het Hard Rock Cafe in New York. De ontvangst was netjes en correct. we bestelden onze drankjes en onze gerechten. Voor een vervolgbestelling moesten we wat moeite doen omdat onze 'vaste' ober druk was met zijn collega. Plots gooide hij de rekening op onze tafel. Daarop stond -zoals gebruikelijk- de kosten van de drankjes en gerechten en een voorstel voor de tip. We wilden best een fooi geven van $20,00, maar niet de gevraagde tip van minimaal $34,00 en vroegen of dit kon. Hij reageerde furieus, ging geen gesprek meer aan en smeet de rekening op tafel. Dat leverde hem helemaal geen tip meer op.

Værste sted at sætte sine ben, dårligste service, vi blev hundset rundt og svinet til af en kvinde som ikke talte dansk og vi ville bare have noget at spise og så startede hun med at rulle øjne og ville sætte os nede i larmen og der ville vi ikke sidde, der var ledige borde ovenpå Derefter fik vi mad med hår i og der kravlede dyr rundt i hjørnerne… Ulækker personale service og Sundhedsstyrelsen burde tjekke dette ud pga det er sundhedsfarlige mad ….

Det værste er at man skal give den en stjerne. Jeg kunne aldrig nogensinde drømme om at give så meget som en stjerne. Man skal holde sig langt væk fra det her sted. De er simpelthen så uhøflige personale jeg aldrig nogensinde har oplevet før. Er der møgbeskidt og der kravler små dyr rundt rundt omkring. Der er hård i maden og alle mulige andre desværre ulækre ting. Steder er ellers rigtigt flot. Men hold jer væk. 👎🖕
