Terrible experience

Terrible experience. The item I ordered never arrived, despite an automated email saying it had. Customer support said the item had been returned to them. When I asked who the courier was and could they provide any proof, eg. photos of a delivery notice, customer service declined. I live in a condo building where delivery is staight-forward. Both Etsy and the manufacturer completely ghosted me. Avoid Etsy at all costs. I want anyone who is considering using Etsy to not use this company. They are dishonest and disreputable.

My Experience Selling on Etsy – An Honest Account

I never thought I'd be writing something like this, but after everything I've been through, I feel people deserve to know my experience with Etsy. I joined Etsy as a genuine small business owner. I wasn't a dropshipper, I wasn't reselling mass-produced products, and I wasn't trying to game the system akll my items are produced by me at my factory. I invested months of my time, money, and effort into building my shop from scratch. Every product, every customer conversation, every shipment, and every order represented countless hours of work. My shop was less than 90 days old. I fulfilled my own orders, shipped everything myself through Local Post with valid tracking numbers, and worked hard to provide a good customer experience. I was even receiving emails from Etsy telling me I was getting closer to becoming a Star Seller because my on-time dispatch performance had improved. Then, out of nowhere, Etsy suspended my account. The only explanation I received was "potentially fraudulent activity." That's it. No meaningful explanation. No evidence. No specific details. Just a vague accusation that completely destroyed the business I had worked so hard to build. I immediately appealed. I explained everything. I told them I was a genuine seller. I offered to provide identity verification, proof of my products, shipping records, tracking numbers anything they wanted. I acknowledged that as a new seller I was still learning Etsy's policies and was committed to complying with every requirement going forward. None of it mattered. My appeal was rejected with another generic response that still didn't explain what I had supposedly done. Since then, I've sent multiple emails asking for clarification. I've tried to communicate professionally and respectfully. I've even escalated my case to senior management because I simply wanted someone anyone to explain what happened. Nothing. No meaningful response. No real explanation. No transparency. Meanwhile, my customers are paying the price for a decision they had nothing to do with. I cannot access my account to properly support them or manage their orders. One customer opened a case for an order that had already been shipped with valid tracking. Instead of reviewing the shipment, Etsy refunded the customer while the parcel was still in transit. If that customer receives the product, who is responsible? Why was the shipment apparently ignored? These are basic questions that still haven't been answered. I also have other dispatched orders with valid tracking, yet I still don't know what will happen to the funds from those orders. I've fulfilled my responsibilities as a seller, shipped products in good faith, and I'm still left waiting for answers. What disappoints me the most isn't that Etsy has policies. Every marketplace should have policies. What disappoints me is how those policies were applied in my case. A small business can spend months building trust, investing money, creating products, fulfilling orders, and taking care of customers only to have everything disappear overnight because of a vague accusation that is never properly explained. As a seller, you're expected to respond quickly, communicate professionally, dispatch orders on time, and meet every standard Etsy sets. Yet when the roles are reversed and a seller needs answers, you're met with automated responses and silence. Small businesses deserve better communication than this. Small businesses deserve transparency. Small businesses deserve the opportunity to understand what happened instead of being left guessing. This experience has taught me one important lesson: never do business on ETSY they are scammers they take your money and ghost overnight kept my resistration money kept my lisiting fee and over $1500 in sales and kept refunding all the customers who even got the items. No matter how much work you put in or how genuine your intentions are, your livelihood can disappear overnight, and getting meaningful answers can feel impossible. I genuinely hope Etsy improves the way it treats honest sellers because no small business owner should have to go through an experience like this.

I went to open a shop on ETSY

I went to open a shop on ETSY. It was very straightforward up until the point I had to verify my identity. After that it was an absolute nightmare. The software designed to capture my image for verification was frustrating to the point of causing tears. With the end result being that I was unable to set up my shop after attempting to verify my identity multiple times. I did attempt to rectify the situation by reaching out to ETSY customer service, but that's just a bot that runs you around in circles, offering you suggestions to your problem that don't match the problem. Long story short, never got my ETSY shop opened.
