WARNING: Elmwoods Sold Treated B+C Resin-Infused Craft Item as Genuine Jadeite and Refused Refund
I purchased Lot 68 - Fine Jewelry auction 20260625 at Elmwoods. It was catalogued simply as 'Jadeite Jade'. Upon testing via FTIR spectroscopy at the globally recognized Hong Kong Gems Laboratory (Taipei), the item was officially certified as Type B+C Jadeite—meaning its natural crystal structure has been severely hollowed out by acid and artificially injected with organic polymers (plastics) and dye. It is an artificial composite craft product, not a natural gemstone asset. When presented with this absolute scientific proof, Elmwoods' Senior Management (Toby) formally refused a refund. They are shamelessly hiding behind a generic 'gemstone treatment disclaimer' clause, arguing that because it is still technically named 'jadeite' (albeit 20% plastic and chemical dye), their description was accurate, and that they are 'just an agent.'This is an appalling lack of professional ethics and standard. No reputable international auction house sells chemical B+C resin-filled jade under an unqualified description of 'Jadeite' and forces the buyer to keep it. Do not wire-transfer your hard-earned money to Elmwoods. If their specialists fail to notice a heavily modified composite imitation, they will hold your funds hostage using legal loopholes. I am escalating this directly to UK Trading Standards and relevant legal authorities.

Terrible auction house - misleading descriptions
Terrible auction house. Grossly overstated diamond carats in their online auction listing, then refused to refund me (despite requesting a refund without 24 hours of purchase). Absolute crooks. Make sure you read the description thoroughly and note that whenever there's a carat "range" it means total carat weight, not individual diamond weight. I would personally avoid this auction house as they're nothing but a headache to deal with. I can verify my purchase from 15/1/26.

Excellent experience with Elmwoods Auction House
I had an outstanding experience with Elmwoods Auction House. From the very beginning, the team was professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful. A special thank you to Tenishia for her excellent customer service and clear communication throughout the process, and to Toby for his support and professionalism. Although there was a small delay in matching my international bank transfer, the team remained proactive and worked with me until everything was resolved. Once the payment was confirmed, the shipment was arranged immediately. It’s refreshing to deal with people who genuinely care about their customers and provide such a high level of service. I would happily buy from Elmwood Auction House again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy auction house. Thank you again to the entire team!
