Has become corporate stressed.

In the middle 20th Century, Disneyland was great. But now it’s lost itself. Staff used to be nice. Now, some are, some aren’t—and management lets it be this way: the cashier at a food place wipes her nose and mouth with her hand, refuses to wash her hands; some under-serve; passive-aggression in inability to know how to put ice in a cup; controlling supervisors who tell staff to do things a certain way, but that inconvenience the customer; staff who lie to guests about the rules…all in one day. I’m very disappointed. It’s Walt’s care for the people replaced with corporate transactions, doubled prices, and doing the least it can do. All day time shows for adults gutted, gone. Now, it’s just a money theme park with a magical history. I don’t know how to harmonize with it, and maybe I shouldn’t try.

Going downhill

Not like its former reputation. It is now being run badly in many ways. It costs much more, is now focused on 5-year-olds. They cancelled ALL the shows for adults. Yet again I’m sitting there, wondering what to do, talking with staff about what to do. I can’t do rides well. I’m a bit fragile. So why are all the shows gone. I was told that SAG-AFTRA raised their rates, so Disneyland would have to pay them more, so they let them go. Disneyland is RICH, they raised their rates—but they siphon off money to make movies, though they lose money in movies because people don’t go as often to films. So…the reason is bad management. But still, the main focus is kids. There are some adult hard rides, but less firm can’t use those. If you can, go ahead. But there are no shows. So I’m sitting there…. I ask guest services. I tell him I can eat lunch again (at 10 am), but they won’t serve it hot. All food gets served at room temperature, it seems, whether it’s prime rib or a burrito. The guest services guy asks me in fluent campy crab, so what do I want? I tell him I want shows. He smirks and leaves without my request to get a supervisor. I just left. DISNEYLAND is not so good any more. They charge a LOT, give little, and are snarky if I complain. Why did I spend $1,900 for an annual Pass? I won’t again.

Policy Over People at Disney Guest Relations

We had an incredibly disappointing experience with Disney Guest Relations after what should have been a magical visit. I accidentally purchased a two-day park ticket but only used one day. The second day of admission was never redeemed. As soon as I realized the mistake, I contacted Disney to cancel and asked for a refund or credit for the unused day. Despite multiple conversations and escalation to a supervisor, Disney refused any adjustment, citing policy. On top of that, we also purchased Lightning Lane passes for two people that we were unable to use due to limited availability and return times. That meant paying a premium for a service that provided no value. What troubled me most was being told that if I tried to dispute the charges with my credit card company or left a negative review, it could negatively impact future purchases with Disney. That felt inappropriate and discouraging, especially when I was simply trying to resolve an issue over unused services. I understand policies exist, but this situation involved unused admission and unusable add-ons. For a company that prides itself on guest experience, the rigid response—and the warning about potential consequences—felt unfair and left us feeling taken advantage of rather than cared for. We weren’t asking for anything extra—just recognition of unused value and a reasonable courtesy adjustment. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Future guests should be extremely careful with purchases, as there appears to be little flexibility even when services go unused.

Overpriced and underwhelming now

We've been to Disney parks all over the world and they've all been steadily heading in the wrong direction year on year re pricing and customer service. This year we went to Disneyland Anaheim and California Adventure and were disappointed in both parks. We had a few interactions with Disney park staff and, almost without exception, they were not enthusiastic or helpful. This is pretty much the opposite of the Disney experience we first had many years ago. The good old days of fast pass kiosks and park hopper tickets are long gone now. If you're local and have an annual pass it's possibly a better experience, but for international visitors it's overpriced and no longer realistically accessible. With ever increasing prices, with less bang for your buck now, this last visit was our last visit. Walt Disney would be turning in his grave at how money hungry the stewards of his legacy has become. Happiest place on earth...? It's not at a Disney park anymore...:(
