Great shop. I’ve bought and sold gold bars and coins at the Zurich office many times and everything always went well. The staff is friendly and competent.

I'm a regular buyer at Degussa. Fair prices and friendly staff.
I frequently buy gold or silver coins from Degussa's shop in Geneva (on quai de Mont Blanc), which I visit in person about every two weeks. I prefer to buy the new issue coins that they receive from the various mints. Sometimes they will have received the latest coin from some mint, and I will always buy at least one if not two or three of them. I can also come away empty-handed because they haven't received anything new since my previous visit. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. If you want to know something about a gold coin, or just want precious metals advice in general they can help. As for prices, they are fair and correct. I always compare their prices with those on offer elsewhere such as EBay or Ricardo. Usually it would cost a little more to buy on the auction sites, and you wouldn't know who you were dealing with, nor be able to see the quality with your naked eye. Of course you could not arbitrage by buying at Degussa and selling on Ricardo, because the auction sites all charge 10% to the seller. The advantage of dealing with Degussa is that they would only sell 100% genuine stuff. You never know if you are not dealing with a proper shop. When buying gold or silver coins and bars at Degussa you will always pay a premium over the spot metal price. This reflects the cost of manufacturing and distributing the coin, as well as the profit mark-up. Also in the case of Silver there is the 8.1% VAT. There's no VAT on gold. If you are into investment, as opposed to collecting, then bigger is better. The premium per ounce is less on 1kg bars than 100 gram bars or one ounce coins. The coins I have purchased are mostly new issues directly from the mint and capsuled in the original plastic capsule. However, sometimes they have older years in stock from a seller, and these are usiually perfect, or near perfect. I have never tried to sell a coin or bar at Degussa, so I can't comment on what they would pay to buy back one of the coins. Overall I recommend Degussa as the best place to buy physical gold or silver. They also have safety deposit boxes to rent if you want to store your gold in Degussa's vaults.

Ja ich weis, das klingt übertrieben gut. Aber ... Ich kann halt echt nichts schlechtes finden. Die Bestellung funktioniert reibungslos. Man kann anrufen, die Mitarbeiter sind super hilfreich und beantworten nach Kräften alle Fragen. Der Preis ist fair. So ein kleiner Mini Anleger wie ich, wollte einen ganz bestimmten Jahrgang einer Münze, auch das klappte reibungslos. Man kümmert sich also, ob jemand für 35 CHF eine Silbermünze kauft oder Grossanleger ist, gleich liebevoll um den Kunden. Innerhalb von 30 Stunden war alles da. Die Ware kommt gescheit gekapselt und gut geschützt an. Nichts wird einfach so in den Briefkasten geschmissen, sondern der Wert-Bote kommt persönlich in den 3. Stock. Für mich stimmt das alles. Ich wünschte es gäbe eine Filiale in Basel:) Aber besser so, ich weiss nicht, ob ich mich bremsen könnte, wenn ich all die tollen Produkte direkt sehen würde. Wer weis, was nicht ist, kann ja noch werden.

Their branch in Geneva looks like a combination of Hogwart and a Fort Knox (in a positive meaning of these). I didn't have a problem with their staff. The only thing I can complain at are prices that are on the "higher than average" side, but I accept these in exchange for the customer service.

Man wurde nicht ernst genommen
Man wurde nicht ernst genommen. Man wurde behandelt als will man ihnen eine Felschung verkaufen. Meine Goldmünzen wurden OHNE Handschuhe von einem "Profi" auf Echtheit überprüft. Diese Münzen sind limitiert und dürfen nicht aus der Verpackung entwendet werden. Was soll das! Das ist nicht professionell! Sehr enttäuschend.
