Unethical policies
I tried to purchase CyberLink PowerDirector. The first 🚩 was when I did not find my region on the list. I attempted to pay—the payment was then flagged for “manual processing” and delayed for up to 24 (!!) hours - another 🚩. Welcome to 2026, the future where political wokeness can ruin customer experience on the get-go. For a digital software subscription in 2026, this is an absurd purchasing experience. I was ready to pay and use the product immediately, but instead I was left waiting because of a restriction created by the company’s own regional policy. Gotta spread the awareness for sure.

Shout-out to the support team!
Shout-out to the support team! I ran into a glitch in the middle of a project and was honestly worried it would take forever to get fixed. Luckily, it was resolved the very same day. Getting through the AI support to reach a real person was a bit of a pain, but once I got connected with Lilian, she was super helpful—fast, clear, and friendly. Really appreciate the help. This is the kind of customer service you hope for but don’t always get these days.

Growing pains
I have been using Power Director for a few years now on and off as I only do video editing as more of a hobby for personal use. I really like the simplicity of the design and how I could pick up the ins and out of the interface easily. Initially, I was quite happy with the product versus the cost. The current product not so much. I encountered a glitch recently and the hoops I had to jump through for support were rigorous. The AI text to speech was reading my sub title before the title. After some back and forth, I was told it was working fine but I could do AB and C to get it to read the title before the subtitle. I seem to be constantly waiting for support to answer questions for me and the whole experience has become cumbersome. At this point, I can no longer recommend them nor renew my subscription.

Paid software claims to be lifetime…
Paid software claims to be lifetime license. Scam. You can't use the software without account and being online. Activation of the software that actually works is like a chore - you're uninstalling over and over again, changing directories, ultimately I've no idea how I activated it actually. As for their Power DVD 24 you can only change region 5 times - one of the features I'd consider basic for a paid software. Your better off using VLC and Makemkv. Spend money elsewhere.

no help at all
I paid for pro. then it logged me out and won't send me a new password. I emailed support who sent an auto reply saying I need to log into my account. I messaged back saying I can't log in that is my issue. then a week later they closed my support ticket with no more assistance. CS003187204
