Good product offset by anti-consumer subscription practices
A genuinely good service that I'd stopped using and forgotten about. Strict terms and conditions on refunds and yet they do not send a renewal reminder email... I wonder why. I asked a refund a few hours after noticing the payment asking them to check my usage which would show I haven't used the service at all over the past year. Support was... kinda harsh tbh. They eventually made an exception but gave me a lecture about reading terms and conditions and managing subscriptions as if people never make a mistake. Honestly - rather weird experience with a company I'd only heard and had good experiences with prior to this. Despite this - I'd probably still use them again (the product is genuinely great as I mentioned) but I have to say a bit of goodwill has been lost

Best DNS prental control with excellent support staff
As a parent, I have tried several DNS-based filtering and parental control solutions over the years, including OpenDNS and CleanBrowsing. While they are useful, Control D offers a level of flexibility, customization, and profile management that I have not found elsewhere. It has become the best DNS-based parental control solution I have used. I recently encountered a frustrating issue where I could no longer unlock a locked profile. Since profile locking is an important part of how I manage internet access for my children, this was a significant problem for me. I have gone thru the initial AI Chatbot "Barry". Luckily Barry quickly understood that it was beyond her ability and quickly opened a ticket for real human based support! the next day i someone named Nil W got in touch with me, I explained the problem and he replied that he couldn't replicated the issue in their end, and usual tech-support advises - change browser, refresh, restart etc. etc. I thought I hit a dead end. Nevertheless, with little hope, I replied that I have tried everything without any result. I was surprised, within few hours he replied asking me to send log files and screen recordings! I got a sense that they are genuinely interested in solving my problem. What stood out was the quality of support I received from Nile. Rather than giving generic responses, Nile patiently worked through the issue with me over several days. 17 email exchange over 5 days! He finally was able to reproduced the problem on his side, identified the root cause, and ultimately resolved it. the issue turned out to be a very specific case involving Google SSO. They now added a new passkey based login. But I personally feel better with old-school style password based login. In today's world, it is easy to find software with good features, but much harder to find human support staff who genuinely care about solving a customer's problem. Nile stayed engaged from start to finish and never left me feeling ignored. I have also tried several non-DNS parental control solutions. The closest competitor for my needs was Salfeld, which is an excellent product in its own right with excelled tech-support as well, but unfortunately I could never get it working reliably on my Xiaomi phone. Control D has ultimately been the solution that best fits my family's needs. Thank you, Nile, for your professionalism, patience, and persistence. And thank you to the Control D team, Keep up the good work!

ControlD is the best DNS service!
I have been using ControlD for a year. I subscribe to the personal “Some Control” plan, and my experience with this service has been very smooth and beneficial. I can log in to the member area to filter ads, malware, and other content. ControlD’s features are very comprehensive and easy to understand, even for beginners. I hope this service continues for a long time. Thank you for the excellent service.

Great DNS service
Great DNS service, highly configurable with a lot of out of the box options that make it easy to quickly set and forget. I use it on my iPhone, laptop, and router. ControlD has configs for each client under a given profile and it makes it easy to set up my dns on my iPhone by default for example. Analytics leave a bit to be desired, not that granular and you can’t even really “step in” to a given log. I am Canadian so I do get very service but it does seem like controlD has expanded their availability in the last year or so.
