I cancelled a Vanity Fair subscription…

I cancelled a Vanity Fair subscription last summer weeks before auto renewal. They still charged me $58. When I saw the charge on my American Express, I went to VP where it told me I did not have a subscription. I then went to CN to complain about the fraudulent charge and got no reply. Went back to VF days later and suddenly I had a subscription! Complained to AE and CN lied to them. Now this summer they have the audacity to tell me they are charging me again. I had to block them at AE and had blocked them at PayPal. Don't fall for their cheapo $15 subscription. They will then fraudulently charge you $50 something the next year even if you cancelled the subscription!

CONDE NAST: BEWARE OF UNAUTHORIZED RENEWAL CHARGES

I subscribed to The New Yorker for 30 years. After three decades as a loyal customer, I am appalled by how Condé Nast treated me. About a year ago, I was offered a free subscription to Wired magazine. I accepted the free offer. A year later, without any notification that I saw, Condé Nast charged $30 to my PayPal account for Wired. I called customer service immediately and asked for a full refund. Instead, I was told they would refund only 50% if I agreed not to dispute the charge. I refused. I told them I intended to challenge the billing because I did not knowingly authorize a $30 paid renewal. This is an unacceptable way to treat any customer, especially someone who subscribed to The New Yorker for 30 years. My advice is simple: Be extremely careful before accepting any “free” Condé Nast subscription or promotion. Watch your PayPal and credit card accounts for later renewal charges. After this experience, I will no longer subscribe to Wired, The New Yorker, or other Condé Nast publications. Avoid Condé Nast. I trusted this company for 30 years. That trust is gone.

If I could I would rate them a -100

If I could I would rate them a -100. They are dishonest and would not let me cancel my " automatic yearly subscription" although I called as soon as it hit my credit card. They said they would refund only 35 then tried to make it go on the next renewal, haha! I will never do business with them again and have 10 professional friends who canceled after hearing about my experience

Unethical subscription policies

Really disappointed in their predatory subscription style; I wasn't aware I was on an auto-renew plan (lack of notifications sent), and the same day I got charged $130 (for an annual renewal of The New Yorker), I called requesting a refund and they feigned it wasn't possible, only to keep me on the phone for a long time, trying to then say I could get 25% refunded, then 50% refunded, but ONLY if I remained on auto-renew. When I insisted on a cancellation immediately (to get out of the insidious loop of auto-renewal without reminders) she informed me no discount was possible. Yucky, gross predatory practices for what is supposedly an esteemed company.

I received an email Conte Nast for a receipt if payment for $80.02. Who the hell is Conde Nast?!! I waited for my Chase statement to arrive to try and figure who this company was. The charge missed the cutoff. I looked up the email again and called customer service. The charge was for Architectural Digest auto- renewal. I don't like this magazine and would have never authorized an auto renewal. Customer service finally canceled the renewal for next year but would not refund the $80.02 because the charge already posted. This is a scammy way to do business. Not happy.
