CoinPayments - one of the worst payment providers I’ve ever dealt with
CoinPayments has been an extremely disappointing service from start to finish. Firstly, they are painfully slow. We regularly wait 30–45 minutes just to receive an IPN/webhook, even for extremely fast networks such as Solana, where transactions themselves are confirmed within seconds. For a payment processor, that kind of delay is unacceptable. Secondly, their withdrawal fees are ridiculously expensive. Depending on the cryptocurrency, you can end up paying $20–$50 in so-called “gas fees” just to withdraw your own funds. For example, they may charge around $50 to withdraw ETH even when the actual network fee at the time is only a tiny fraction of that amount. These fees seem completely disconnected from the real on-chain transaction costs. Finally, their support is some of the least useful customer support I have ever dealt with. Communicating with them feels like talking to a wall or an automated bot. You repeatedly receive the same generic, pre-written responses, while nobody appears willing or able to actually investigate or resolve the issue. When questioning excessive withdrawal fees, responses such as “these are the system’s standard gas fees and we cannot adjust them” are especially frustrating when CoinPayments is the company operating that very system. Between the slow payment notifications, excessive withdrawal fees, and ineffective support, I cannot recommend CoinPayments. There are payment providers available that are significantly cheaper and considerably faster, and it does not take much searching to find them. Avoid CoinPayments at all costs.
