I placed my first-ever online order with Bloomingdale’s, and instead of a normal shopping experience, my order was abruptly canceled. The email I received said that additional information was needed to complete my order, so I called the number provided expecting to resolve whatever issue there was. That’s when things became even more frustrating. The representative told me that a team had made a decision that I am not permitted to make purchases online through Bloomingdale’s, although apparently I am allowed to walk into one of their stores and purchase items in person. When I asked why, I was given absolutely no explanation. I was simply told that it was a “business decision.” I asked to speak with a supervisor (Johan) because I felt that, at the very least, I deserved to understand why my account was being restricted. The supervisor gave me the exact same response: it was a business decision, and they could not tell me what the reason was. So, to be clear: Bloomingdale’s canceled my first online order, restricted my ability to shop online, and then refused to provide any explanation whatsoever for why this decision was made. I completely understand that a company has the right to make decisions about its business. What I find unacceptable is the lack of transparency and the way this was handled. If there is an issue with an order or account, customers should be given some reasonable explanation rather than being essentially told, “We made a decision about you, but we’re not going to tell you what it is.” I was genuinely looking forward to shopping with Bloomingdale’s, but after this experience, I have no desire to give my business to a company that treats a first-time customer this way. Extremely poor customer service, zero transparency, and a very disappointing first impression. 1 star because zero isn’t an option.

Terrible experience, never again, that literally all I have to say

This review is not specifically for a Bloomingdale’s store, it’s more about Bloomingdale’s overall. I ordered three pairs of men’s hokas running shoes online, but they only shipped two pairs. I have called their customer service number multiple times and filed multiple claims. However, Bloomingdale’s will not issue a refund or a replacement because they say that since the package arrived, there’s nothing they can do. The other thing they can’t do is provide proof that all three pairs of shoes ended up being shipped. Their system is horrible because you can’t actually talk to the people who review the claims. If I could give them zero stars, I would. p. s. If you want an actual person to review your claim with Bloomingdale’s and not a bot, you have to call their number. If you submit it online, it will just be auto reviewed by a bot.

It’s the same old story: whenever I order something online, they cancel the order due to "verification." I contact customer service, they verify everything, and yet they still cancel the order! I am never buying from that site again.

I tried to place an order for a relative's wedding registry. The order was inexplicably cancelled for "security review"--this is not my credit card declining the purchase. It's Bloomingdale's refusing to complete it. I called the help line, verified my info (which was correct), and they still won't process the gift. Fwiw, I also have the same last name as the groom (as he's my nephew). So this is just insane. They literally told me to purchase from a different company. How in the world is this a working company if this is how it operates? I will now warn friends away from ever using Bloomingdales for a wedding registry--as I would never want a wedding guest to experience this headache. Have never encountered anything like this in decades of wedding present purchases. Sounds like AI run amok.
