I very rarely write reviews, but after my recent experience with Antler I felt compelled to share mine, as the whole experience has left a very sour taste in my mouth. I purchased an Antler hard-shell suitcase in 2023 because I believed I was investing in a premium, high-quality piece of luggage that would last for many years. After approximately three years, the hard shell has suffered significant structural damage — a corner has cracked to the point that a substantial section of the outer shell has completely broken away, leaving a hole and exposing the material underneath. I contacted Antler expecting that such a significant failure in a relatively expensive suitcase after only three years would at least warrant some assistance. My warranty claim was declined because the damage occurred during air travel and Antler determined from the photographs that it was most likely caused by external handling. I completely understand that no suitcase is indestructible and that airlines can damage luggage. However, luggage is specifically designed to travel, including being checked on aircraft. I would reasonably expect a premium hard-shell suitcase to withstand the normal realities of air travel for considerably longer than three years. What disappointed me just as much as the failure of the suitcase itself was Antler’s response. I asked for the matter to be escalated and explained my concerns about the durability of the shell. After a supervisory review, Antler maintained that the damage was consistent with external handling and declined to offer a replacement, repair, refund or even a goodwill resolution. Antler prominently promotes the quality and durability of its luggage and offers a lifetime warranty on eligible suitcases. My experience has unfortunately made me question how meaningful that warranty is in practice when significant structural damage occurring during the very activity the product is designed for can be attributed to airline handling and excluded. I chose Antler because of its reputation and was prepared to pay more because I expected better quality and longevity. A suitcase lasting approximately three years before suffering this level of structural damage falls well short of those expectations. Unfortunately, after both the product failure and the way my claim was handled, I have lost confidence in the brand. I won’t purchase Antler luggage again and, based on my experience, I would no longer feel comfortable recommending it to friends or family.
