Absolutely horrified by...…
Absolutely horrified by the reviews of companies on the rental comparison sites that rent out of Heraklion, and with PTSD of my own experience in Catania, I searched for local companies I was assured wouldn't try and hold me to ransom over huge insurance add-ons. Anna Cars was one such company that received great ratings, all insurance is included in the quoted price, which was fair. I needed a 6 seater and we were offered a recent VW Caddy which was immaculately clean, had good air conditioning and drove well (and in a straight line and no wobbles). Pickup was super simple, they're based in the car park just adjacent to the arrivals exit, the guy on the desk was extremely pleasant and jovial and I'd use them again without a second thought. Drop off was a matter of posting the keys through a hole in their kiosk.

Tutto bene con qualche intoppo
Abbiamo noleggiato con qualche mese di anticipo un’auto di categoria media con copertura full dal loro sito, versando la caparra e ricevendo la conferma dall’agenzia. Tuttavia, al nostro arrivo di sera a Creta, nel punto di ritiro non c’era nessuno. Fortunatamente, la compagnia accanto li ha contattati ed è arrivato un signore molto gentile, il quale ci ha spiegato che la nostra prenotazione era andata persa. Mostriamo le e-mail di conferma. Poiché per fortuna dovevamo trascorrere la prima notte nella stessa città, il signore ha risolto momentaneamente la situazione accompagnandoci in hotel e assicurandoci che il mattino seguente ci avrebbero consegnato l’auto direttamente lì. Così è stato, ma l’auto consegnataci, richiesta a un’altra compagnia locale (Cretacars), era una Peugeot 308 molto datata e con tanti km. Meccanicamente andava anche bene, ma l’aria condizionata era quasi inesistente, e girare con 40 gradi in 5 è stato davvero pesante. Considerando il costo di 600 euro per 9 giorni, valutiamo il servizio come appena discreto. Anche la riconsegna in aeroporto ci ha lasciato qualche perplessità: trattandosi di un’agenzia locale non aveva stalli riservati, abbiamo dovuto consegnare le chiavi in strada a due signore che però erano prive di qualsiasi tesserino o simbolo di riconoscimento, identificativo della compagnia o copia del nostro contratto. Non nascondiamo che la situazione ci ha destato più di un sospetto, dato che poteva trattarsi di chiunque....

Great Rental Company
We had an amazing experience renting from this company. The prices were some of the best we found, and with zero deposit required, there was none of the usual stress or hidden catches. Everything was straightforward from booking to return; the car was in great condition, and the staff were friendly and professional the whole way through (their kiosk is about 500m from arrivals/departures, just to keep in mind). It made exploring the island so much easier. We'd rent from them again without hesitation and highly recommend them to anyone visiting Crete.

Abbiamo noleggiato un auto da questa agenzia. Siamo rimasti contentissimi. Pagamento contanti senzA deposito e franchigia,tutto quello che si può chiedere quando si noleggia un'auto. Aggiungiamo cortesia e competenza e macchine nuove. La nostra aveva solo 7000 km. Da consigliare e da ritornarci
