I have been contacting Airbnb back and forth for over a week and they still haven’t answered my questions! Apparently it’s perfectly acceptable for a host to lie about the guest in their reviews, and despite sending in evidence of how we left the accommodation, they operate a policy that allows a guest or host to slander the others ratings all because Airbnb can’t be arsed to get involved? I’ve been told 3 times today that I’d be getting a callback, the latest of which should be by a manager, and I’ve been waiting an hour longer than they said and still no call. They have no customer care. I will never again use Airbnb, the company should be shut down.

The WORST most deceiving company on the world and they should be investigated. Not to mention using ireland to pay against uk taxes on properties in the uk! They are also just "human" bots.

Being landed with an evidence-free financial liability approaching £6,000 is an extraordinary burden to place on any guest. While my appeal ultimately succeeded in overturning the reimbursement decision in its entirety, the shambolic, opaque, and distressing way Airbnb handled the investigation exposes systemic failings within AirCover that demand public exposure. This review is not about the financial outcome; it is about a process entirely devoid of rigour, transparency, or basic professional competence: Groundless High-Stakes Liability: I was initially found liable for £5,050 without Airbnb ever identifying findings of fact, proving causation, or engaging with my contemporaneous photographs and message logs. It took an exhaustive, highly stressful appeal to correct a baseless determination that should never have been issued in the first place. Phantom Charges and Moving Targets: Just before the original ruling, uncorroborated allegations totalling £848.01 for "property damage and additional cleaning" were abruptly introduced. Despite repeated requests, zero particulars or supporting evidence were ever provided, leaving me completely unable to respond to a moving target. Appalling Communication Standards: For a claim of this magnitude, the correspondence was disgraceful. It relied heavily on generic template responses, featured mangled English, and repeatedly addressed me by the wrong name. Zero Accountability Post-Appeal: Even after the appeal team rightly overturned the decision, the original claims handler sent a follow-up email stating Airbnb had "decided not to charge" me—framing a catastrophic investigative failure as corporate benevolence. All subsequent formal feedback regarding these systemic flaws has been met with absolute silence. AirCover currently operates as a high-stakes, evidence-blind instrument that places an unconscionable burden of stress onto the innocent party. If this is the standard of investigation applied when thousands of pounds are on the line, users deserve to know how little accountability underpins the platform. AirBnB is owned by the worst sort of grasping, repulsive capitalist. Please spread the word and Boycott this despicable scam.

Unethical company. I submitted plenty of photo and text evidence for a dangerous stay, and Airbnb mediation replied with dismissive, insincere gaslighting. I canceled all my upcoming reservations - if they had been ethical with this one short stay, they would have gained business multiples that amount in value.

I've used the platform multiple times now for booking small getaways. Majority of the time with no issue and have actually returned to some venues. However, in March I had such an experience that it put me off enormously using the platform. Unfortunately it was one of those circumstances where I had to leave my property due to work being done but still stay fairly local So I could not just get up and leave and I would have done if I could. First night staying the oven didn't work. Contacted the host. No response the next morning without contacting me first. Just turned up at the door demanded for it to be opened. The host very quickly became quite aggressive stating that there was nothing wrong with it. I just couldn't do it and I was the problem. He didn't know himself how the oven works upon looking up for the multiple time how to use it? It very quickly stated that there was a fault. I was told that somebody would return to sort the issue they never did. I also had to take my animal with me. This was a home that allowed this and it was subsequently not safe for pets at all. There was a great big hole in the wall which my animal subsequently found and then disappeared into the void of the staircase and up into the roof. Thankfully they came back down unharmed. I mentioned this also to the host I was met with. There's no such thing as a whole. The hole was big enough that it was the size of one wall. I then made contact with Airbnb. I'd had enough. I was being spoken to disgustingly and was concerned to my safety and the safety of my animals. Despite saying, please do not contact the host. I am alone and it will not be safe to do so. They did anything but making sure that I was safe by contacting the host immediately and stating that I had issues with the property and that I did not feel safe. This was a huge mistake on their part and could have gone incredibly wrong. I was then spoken to even more rudely shouted at told I was the problem not the property. Thankfully I had somebody virtually visiting each day so they were able to step in when the host decided that they were going to be incredibly aggressive. I then spoke to Airbnb on multiple occasions throughout my stay regarding other things such as hygiene bedding, no fire alarms, things, not meeting legal standards, electrical plug sockets that wouldn't switch off and was stuck on no proper facilities to cook food. I was reassured that once I had left that this would be dealt with appropriately but it was best to make sure I had left the property first. I agreed was also told to take as many photos and videos as possible. To which I did. I also wrote out everything I had found and dated it. I scrubbed the place from top to bottom myself because I could not bear the thought of some other poor person staying there after me with it in that disgusting condition. But my main concern was the fact that it is illegal not to have fire alarms fitted in properties. Particularly that are being rented out and there was not one in sight. The brackets are in the walls but they were all missing. Due to the other things that were found this raised considerable amount of concern. Once I returned home, I immediately started the process with Airbnb of submitting all documentation, photographs, conversations at length regarding the property and the experience. I was met with almost completely the opposite. From what I've been told previously, I was told that I couldn't receive a refund unless I submitted the issues to the host myself when I stated my deep concern for his behaviour towards me I was met with well. We're requesting that you do it and we're setting it up for you now. So I had to submit everything to the host directly and no surprise. Everything I submitted was declined and apparently I was a liar and the photos that I had taken had been made up. At this point I had had enough an Airbnb were responsible for sorting it out thankfully they did manage to give me a partial refund but they stated they could not refund all of the costs because the host didn't think the information I had provided was correct. I've since raised this property with local authority. I have asked Airbnb on multiple occasions what their protocol is in regards to a property that is dangerous. As this and not meeting legal requirement they failed to answer other than to say it's being flagged and investigation is internal. This host is still having people to stay in the property despite it being incredibly illegal. Local authority also asked me to get information from Airbnb so they could proceed further with their investigation on contacting Airbnb I was told despite local authority asking for this, I couldn't have the information. Again, the property had been flagged but they were also awaiting any other complaints.
